My blog is in desperate need of a mission statement.

I wonder if updating a blog is like working out. Like creating a good habit?

I think I’ve fell off the blog wagon.

Note to self: create a good habit with your blog, man! Do it!

We made a cool little video…

On a whim, I bought Ad Franks’ “Mr. Fancypants” at Newbury Comics in Alewife yesterday.

I’m lovin’ it – Yeah, I know. A fucking McDonald’s slogan, but it’s the first thing that jumped into my nog.

Ad Frank and the Fast & Easy Women.

Mr. Fancypants

Really, is it the pants or the pose?

I’m at Brigham & Women’s Hospital again tonight. Spending the night here, helping my Mom. Last week, what she thought was bronchitis was, well, something much, much worse. My Mom, she needed emergency heart surgury. So, yeah, her Thanksgiving didn’t turn out quite the way she thought it would (one of the first things she said after the surgury). The operation was a success. And boy, do we ever have something to be thankful for.

The Wrestler. Saw it this after noon.

Talk about casting. Mickey Rourke owns this role. He is the wrestler and the wrestler is he. No question.

Director Darren Aaronofsky has a good movie on his hands here. Damn good.

An Oscar nom for Mickey Rourke perhaps? What’s this world coming to?

Last night, I mentioned to Sarah that I hadn’t read a book in months.

“I’d really like to read a good book. God knows I have a ton.”

“Did you finish reading The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao? The one I gave you.”

“No, I’ve been so preoccupied.”

“You should read it.”

The way she said “You should read it” conveyed I MUST read it. And so I resolve to, if only for the idealized sense of completion. I start many books and finish few. I want to break the trend.

Books I’ve started this year:

A Long Way Down by Nick Hornby. Reached chapter 5.

Remainder by Tom McCarthy. Chapter 3.

The Punch by Noah Hawley. I’m somewhere past the middle.

Suspension by Robert Westfield. Chapter 2.

On the bright side, books I’ve completed in the past year or so:

The Royal Nonesuch by Glasgow Phillips.

Alternadad by Neal Pollack.

House Rules: A Memoir by Rachael Sontag. There’s frightening shit in that book.

Update: Now Sarah says, after reading this post, “If you love me you’ll read Infinite Jest.”

Conditions! Conditions! Conditions! ;)

Another blast from the past.

I played a construction worker in the John Hughes-produced movie Baby’s Day Out. This is me on the set with Jacob Warton (Baby Bink).

Saw this trailer today. It’s for the Bruce Campbell comedy My Name Is Bruce.

Makes me all sunny and happy inside when I see a movie like this playin’ in a few cities. I guess because it appears to be a total geek-out. A goofball in-joke. I hope it’s good.

… was surfing around online and found an event I covered some years ago for IGN.

The Star Wars 25th Anniversary Concert.

My photos and all. Check it out riiiiiiiiiight……. here.

Who doesn't love R2?

It's true. Droids can sing.
